The Next Door Inc. Hosts Community Baby Shower

Parenthood can be overwhelming and challenging for many, especially for those without access to the basic necessities every child and parent deserve. Financial strain, life stressors, and lack of a support system can all put new families at increased risk. Family Services programs at The Next Door Inc. are designed to help parents navigate the challenges of parenting and build safe, healthy relationships where all families feel valued.

Beginning April 1st through April 30th, The Next Door Inc. is hosting a Community Baby Shower donation drive to support local families. We welcome monetary donations or contributions of new, unwrapped gender-neutral items to help parents nurture their newborns.

Earn Up to $1,000 By Referring Foster Parents to The Next Door

Our Therapeutic Foster Care program at The Next Door Inc. (TNDI) is a higher level of foster care serving youth who have emotional, behavioral, and/or medical needs. Through trauma-informed care, we help youth in our foster care program heal, grow and develop with support from a caring foster parent.

The Next Door’s foster parents receive 24-hour on-call support, trauma-informed training, including a monthly meeting for support and training, and two (2) paid days off per month. Full-time foster parents are provided with a monthly reimbursement of around $2,100/month untaxed per youth in their care, while weekend/respite foster parents are paid a nightly rate.

Shaping the Future: Community Legacy Initiative

Imagine a future where every family in our community has the opportunity to shape their legacy, where the values that matter most endure for generations to come. Unfortunately, many families are unprepared for this responsibility; only 35% have a will, and even fewer include charitable intentions.

A united consortium of passionate non-profits including The Next Door Inc., Thrive Hood River, Gorge Grown, Washington Gorge Action Programs (WAGAP), Mid-Columbia Community Action Council (MCCAC), and the Columbia Gorge Community College (CGCC) Foundation believe in the transformative power of community, connection, and the legacies we create together. We invite you to join us for the Community Legacy Initiative on Sunday, March 2nd, from 2-4pm at the Ruins in Hood River.

Systems Change Begins From Within

At The Next Door (TNDI), we understand that true systemic change begins from within. While we work to help other individuals, businesses, and organizations see their blind spots and address barriers to success, we also embrace those same initiatives to enhance our own services. Creating a diverse workforce with lived work experience is one of the many ways we incorporate systems change within our own organization to strengthen our team and amplify our impact on the people and communities we serve.
