HOOD RIVER: Public Premiere of "Corazón: The Legacy of Community Health Workers in the Columbia Gorge of Oregon & Washington"

  • Columbia Center for the Arts 215 Cascade Avenue Hood River, Oregon, 97031 United States (map)

Experience the public premiere of "Corazón: The Legacy of Community Health Workers in the Columbia Gorge of Oregon & Washington" and discover the people, history, and heart behind nearly 40 years of community health work in the Columbia Gorge.

“Corazón” shares the history of Community Health Workers (CHWs) in this region, beginning in 1988. The CHW movement has since blossomed into an internationally recognized profession. There are now over 150 CHWs working in this region alone. “Corazón,” a fully bilingual (Spanish-English), professionally produced documentary premiering in 2026, highlights the stories of several CHWs, showing the diversity of their work and the many ways in which they serve their communities. It was created by a team of CHWs and allies motivated to spread understanding of the importance of this movement, the unique roles of CHWs, their vital connections to Popular Education, Public Health, and the Structural Determinants of Health, and the relevance to other regions and communities.
