Youth & Family Services

Youth & Family Services works with youth ages 12-18 and their families through a variety of helpful programs in Hood River County. Our help is tailored to each individual and family and can include counseling, support groups, violence and anger prevention training, life skills groups, parenting classes, connections to helpful resources in the community and Teen Court.
Our Teen Court program allows first-time juvenile offenders to stand before a trained jury composed of a combination of teens who have gone through Teen Court, and teens who volunteer for the court. Local attorneys volunteer to serve as judges. Youth who participate in Teen Court are half as likely to commit a new offense as youth who go through the juvenile justice system.
Work Crew gives youth who sentenced by Teen Court an opportunity to resolve their charges by performing community service. Work Crew does clean up projects around Hood River such as raking leaves at Jackson Park, Wilson Park, and Wy'East Middle School, and cleaning up the Children's Park, Hood River Court House grounds and the County Fairgrounds. You may also see them picking up litter on local roadsides. Performing community service instead of serving time in juvenile detention allows young people to make a positive contribution to the community they live in.
