The Gorge Games 2008 and
The Next Door, Inc.

By now, almost everyone knows that the Gorge Games are back.

And we have reason to be excited!

The Next Door, Inc. has been given the opportunity of being one of the Gorge Games’ primary non-profit partners. As a partner, we will be selling water in biodegradable bottles at the Adventure Village site on the weekend of the Games, July 19 and 20.

We need people to help with water sales, and we have some wonderful benefits to offer our volunteers. In return for working just one shift, the Gorge Games organizers will be providing each volunteer with a daily ticket (a $20 value for adults) to the weekend concerts, (see band list below), and a bag of free goodies. They will also provide a required training before the event, and shuttle service from a variety of locations.

If you have even the tiniest hope that you could help us out and experience the Gorge Games close-up, please email or phone in your contact information right away. We will be contacting volunteers to schedule shifts soon. We hope to recruit enough people so that everyone can work just one 2 hour shift, which means we need 80-90 volunteers.

The Next Door, Inc. has been caring about and working with children and families in the Gorge for 37 years. Our programs provide first-baby visits, parenting education and support, tobacco, alcohol and other drug prevention, food security for those on low incomes, Big Brother Big Sister mentoring in the community and in schools, Behavior Rehabilitation Services for teens, counseling services for high school students and their families, Girls Inspiration Circle and Guys Group at Hood River Valley High School, breast cancer and diabetes awareness, obesity management classes, and many other services.

By working alongside us at the Gorge Games, you will support all these programs.
