Wishing for Woodworking

pile of toolsOur Klahre House students love building things like birdhouses and planters, but the teacher whose tools they were using left. They have a wish list of tools, and donors have already started dropping off treasures from sheds and garages. How about joining them?

Superhero Employee Honored

Ralph Kupersmith as a little cowboyWe usually don’t bring up the Employee of the Month on our website, but Ralph Kupersmith is a special case. At The Next Door, he has been a Case Manager, Foster Parent Trainer, Recruiter, and Certifier, Facilities Manager, Bus Driver, and several things we don’t have titles for. Ralph can be counted on to fill in wherever he’s needed, and he has a beautiful attitude toward the most difficult of children. He sees them as children.

Dennis Carlson, Volunteer of the Year

Dennis Carlson-Volunteer of the Year

The Next Door is pleased to honor Dennis Carlson as our 2012 Volunteer of the Year.  As a master gardener, Dennis has been instrumental in starting both the Klahre House School Garden and the Raices/Roots Community Garden.  These vegetable gardens have benefited Klahre House students and community members.  Dennis has put in hundreds of hours teaching gardening skills and working in the gardens.
