Bowl For Kids’ Sake 2012

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Columbia GorgeHood River, OR – Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Columbia Gorge (BBBS) holds its largest annual community-based fundraiser this Saturday, March 10 at Orchard Lanes in Hood River. This year’s event features title sponsors NW Natural and Hood River Garbage Service, and more than 250 community members, businesses and agencies in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters and the children they serve in our communities!

“The bowling is a bonus for the hard work teams put in to raising funds for the program,” according to Tim Sweeney, of Hood River Construction and BBBS’s Advisory Board. “It’s a lot of fun and a great way to support a program that makes a real difference for local kids!”

BBBS matches children with a caring, screened and trained volunteer who acts as a role model, providing friendship, guidance and support. Currently, the program supports more than 80 matches in Hood River, Wasco and Klickitat counties. It’s not too late to contribute. You can make a difference by going to www.nextdoorinc.org and clicking DONATE NOW.

BBBS is powered by the financial support of numerous individuals and businesses in our Columbia Gorge communities. For more information about donating to Bowl for Kids’ Sake or to get involved in the program, please contact Kristin Reese at 541-436-0305 or at bbbs@nextdoorinc.org.

Leos Recycle to Support Big Brothers Big Sisters

From 9AM to 1PM, the Leos will accept all redeemable bottles and cans at the Rosauers parking lot next to the Lions’ paper recycling trailer. The funds will support Leos’ bowling teams at Bowl for Kids’ Sake, BBBS’ largest annual fundraiser presented by NW Natural and The Dalles Disposal/Hood River Garbage Service on Saturday, March 10th at Orchard Lanes.

“Big Brothers Big Sisters is a great cause,” said Claire Rawson, Leos’ President. “Bowl for Kids’ Sake is a great fun way to support local kids reaching their full potential.” Hood River Leos also support Big Brothers Big Sisters throughout the summer with the proceeds from concessions sales at Movies in the Park.

You can help by delivering your recyclable cans and bottles to the Leos this Saturday, March 3rd between 9AM and 1PM. The funds raised will help support existing matches and enable BBBS to match additional youth in Wasco, Hood River and Klickitat County with an amazing Big Brother or Big Sister.

Bowl for Kids Sake 2012

Bowl For Kids' Sake bowlerWhat could be better than a fundraiser that’s 99% pure fun?   Bowl For Kids’ Sake on Saturday, March 10 was the best event ever.

More than 50 teams competed to raise donations that pay for over a third of the Big Brothers Big Sisters budget. The best part was when the Bigs and Littles showed up at 4 pm to bowl. Or maybe the best part was the pizza. Or the laughing. Let’s just say, a good time was had by all.
