Nancy Johanson Paul
Parent Education Coordinator & Family Advocate, New Parent Services
written by Karen Enns, NPS Program ManagerI am happy to announce that Nancy Johanson Paul is our November Employee of the Month.
As our Parenting Education Coordinator, Nancy deserves to be recognized for many things. To name just a few…
she was very instrumental in getting our new publication, “Parenting in the Gorge Guide” created and distributed this fall
she was selected to do a parenting training for Google employees that will be video-taped for their employees nationwide
she has honed her public speaking skills through participation in Toastmasters and has developed several colorful speeches on parenting education, including her “Parenting Tool Lady” speech complete with a tool belt, hat, and other props
she had a hand in delivering 20 parenting class series throughout the Gorge last year – wow, that’s a lot of classes!
Nancy gives her heart and soul to her work and we appreciate her very much. Thank you for all you do, Nancy!
2010 Employee of the Month
Please join me in congratulating Nancy Johanson Paul, our October Employee of the Month! Nancy received special recognition this month not only for her overall contributions to our ongoing Parenting Education Program and Family Support and Connections Program, but particularly for her hard work in creating a multi-media power point presentation for Parenting Ed outreach.
Many of you were able to enjoy this presentation at our recent All-Staff gathering in The Dalles – it included photos, music, and voice-overs of families impacted by our parenting classes. This was a significant technological challenge that Nancy took on with great initiative, creativity, and independence. The presentation will be shown to community partners, businesses, clubs, school groups, etc. to generate even more support for parenting classes.
Overall, Nancy has built a very strong, well-respected Parenting Education program for parents with children ages 0-8 in Hood River County. This past year and a half, she added the coordination of delivering seven additional “Strengthening Families” series for parents and youth ages 10-14. Our funders have rated our program “Exemplary” and “Outstanding,” due in large part to Nancy‘s role as Coordinator, and I would use those same words for her personally as well! Thank you, Nancy, for all you contribute to NDI and the community!
