Leslie Ball

Administrative Assistant, Treatment Services

written by Derryll Dexter

I am pleased to announce Leslie Ball as February’s Employee of the Month. Leslie started with us as a foster parent, a role she and her husband continue to enjoy. She has been an Administrative Assistant at The Next Door for two years, working in Treatment Services. Her most recent experience before NDI was working with The Dalles School District, especially IEP (Individual Education Plan) files, and she stepped right in overseeing that part of her job here. Leslie is adept at many things—one that stands out is Oregon Department of Education’s cumbersome database within which we provide school attendance data to the state several times a year.

Leslie began in October 2007 at half time, immediately moved up to 30 hours, then back to less 20 hours, all the while maintaining a smile. This month Leslie has agreed to return to 30 hours weekly—20 at Klahre House Day Treatment School and 10 hours at Treatment Services’ The Dalles office. She and Elisa Lompa will be taking on more of my duties as I am cutting back. Leslie has begun attending teacher meetings and offering more of her skills and knowledge to the teaching team.

Here are some comments from others who work with her:
"Leslie has always been an asset to the teaching team but, of late, she has consistently offered to take on more things and has really helped the program run more smoothly and efficiently. She offers her services to the teachers and helps out far more than any of us could have hoped. Her presence at the teacher meetings often allows us to gain an honest and candid view of the perspectives of the foster parents."
~Kieran Connolly, School Administrator

"Leslie was a tremendous help in developing forms in CTK for the Independent Living Program, and was available during the transition of the ILP coordinators."
~Fern Johnson, Independent Living Program Coordinator

"Our CTK online data base requires close attention to detail when entering volunteers and donations. As I look at my CTK in-kind donation report, I really want to commend Leslie on her input. She writes neat, legible, detailed descriptions. Maybe I should have Leslie train all our staff how to use CTK! Thank you again, Leslie."
~ Cheryl Lawson, Controller

Congratulations Leslie, we appreciate your stick to it attitude and look forward to more great things.
