Jenny Maier

Parenting Education Facilitator, Families First

written by Karen Enns in 2009

I am happy to announce that our Employee of the Month for November is our very own Jenny Maier.

Jenny works out of The Dalles office as a Parent Trainer under our “Parental Capacity Enhancement” program, which provides parenting training for families involved with the Department of Human Services Child Welfare.

This is a tough job!

We knew it would be tough when we responded to the request to design this program, but we also knew that we had the right person for the job from the beginning.

Jenny has an amazing ability to connect with these troubled families, gain their trust, understand the many complex issues they struggle with, and help them grow as parents. She is able to do this with a focus on their strengths and potential, and she is able to communicate in a very honest and straightforward way so that the difficult issues can be tackled together.

In choosing her as Employee of the Month, we want to acknowledge Jenny’s major contribution to this program, not only in her work with the families, but in her work designing the program and many of the assessment, service plan, and reporting tools.

Unfortunately, this program is scheduled to end in January, but we hope we can transfer much of her good work and skills to another similar program, as this service is crucially needed and she is one of the few individuals in the Gorge who can do this kind of work effectively.
