David Dye

Treatment Services Project Manager

David Dye

I am a native Oregonian and longtime resident here in Hood River, having lived primarily in this great town since the age of ten.  After completing high school at what was then Baptist Christian School (now Horizon Christian), I attended college at California Baptist College in Riverside and Portland State University, graduating with a degree in psychology.

I consider myself very fortunate to have had many caring adults in my life as a child.  My experience in two faith-based schools instilled in me many of the same values that we try to pass on to our kids at Klahre House, such as respect and caring for others.  As I grew older, and largely through my experience as an employee of The Next Door, I learned that these values were found not only in the congregations of my youth, but in the greater community of individuals dedicated to the service of others.

I am the husband of a beautiful and understanding woman and father to two wonderful and challenging girls, ages ten and five, who are currently instructing me on all aspects of being a parent.  I am also a long distance runner; if you spend enough time in Hood River, you will eventually see me out on the road, rain or shine.

One of my favorite bits of verse is from Robert Frost:

“The woods are lovely dark and deep,
but I have promises to keep,
and miles to go before I sleep,
and miles to go before I sleep.”

When people ask me why I’ve worked at the Klahre House for so long, I give a lot of different answers, but the truest is that we’re simply not done yet.
