Family Support Worker, Families First

We are excited to announce that the March Employee of the Month award goes to Families First’s very own Carla Webber. Carla has been working with The Next Door for the last eighteen months. During that time she has been extremely flexible about taking on many new roles to benefit the families of Wasco County. Her heart’s desire is to work with families as a Family Support Worker, but she has also, upon request, taken on the role of Administrative Assistant, giving all of our staff in The Dalles the support they need.
Carla organized and facilitated very successful parenting classes for The Dalles community, and continues to seek out parents who can use support.
When Carla first started working as a Family Support Worker, she noticed that there were many teen parents in the community and was concerned that our program was not having enough success in connecting with them. She made a commitment to reach out to them by connecting with the Discovery High School in The Dalles, presenting child development and parenting information once or twice a month. Because of her special way with teens, three new families have recently enrolled in our home visiting services and many more are being connected with other resources.
Carla is Employee of the Month because she invests her heart and soul into her job and is truly making a difference in our community.
