Beth McCullough
Match Coordinator, Big Brothers Big Sisters
written by Jenny Halsch, Program ManagerI am happy to announce that Beth McCullough is The Next Door’s May Employee of the Month. Beth has been with us since 2004, and her dedication to her “Littles” and “Bigs” and contributions to BBBS and NDI shine.
Beth looks out for her Littles and their families. Over the years, I can think of many families whom Beth has swooped up and connected to the resources they need – whether it’s counseling, clothing or household goods. She looks for creative ways to ensure her families' needs are met.
To help her Littles develop greater attachment to their community, she started BBBS Nights at Soul Café and is preparing to coordinate a Sunday Supper at Soul Café so Bigs and Littles can feed the community for one evening. What a great way for our Littles to ‘give back’ to their community alongside their Bigs.
Beth is also the writer behind the great Classified Ads in the paper: she has a talent for capturing a child in five sentences or less! Those classified ads have proven to be valuable tools to recruit volunteers. Beth's classified ads go beyond volunteer recruitment and remind our community what the Big Brothers Big Sisters program does and what so many children need.
Finally, she has developed and nurtured many important partnerships in Klickitat County since we began matching kids across the river in 2005. Her solid support to Littles and Bigs has led to a steady flow of referrals for kids, as well as financial support from local businesses like Beneventi’s Pizza and Canyon Market, who now organize and staff two fundraisers for BBBS annually.
Thanks to Beth for all she contributes to BBBS and NDI day in and day out!
