Mike Doke
Board Vice Chair
Born and raised in Hood River County, I’ve held a variety of community-oriented positions since my days at the University of Oregon.
After college, I became Hood River News sports editor, advancing to White Salmon Enterprise editor and finally Hood River News managing editor. I moved on to become Hood River County Chamber of Commerce marketing director and nine years ago assumed my present position as Marketing Manager with the Port of Hood River.
My past volunteer experience – including Hood River Harvest Fest entertainment coordinator, Hood River Downtown Business Association board secretary, Hood River County Visitors Council chair and Hood River Chamber Ambassadors president – have been rooted in improving my hometown. Serving on the board of the Next Door, Inc., is a chance to focus on programs that enhance lives across the region.
How I do things I don't want to do:
Simple logic keeps me on track to do things I don’t want to do – finish the things you need to do to make more time for the things you want to do.
Favorite quote:
“Long May You Run,” Neil Young.
Favorite pastimes:
Miles and miles atop a bicycle, and trying to beat my previous week’s time hiking up Dog Mountain.
